Sands Grand Ball

Saturday 28th September 2013

Easterbrook Hall- Crichton RoyalDinner, Auction & Raffle Dance to “Not Guilty”

Tickets are £40 each.

Please email via the website to book your table for this great evening for such a worthwhile charity.

This is our 2nd grand ball after a hugely successful one in 2011. We managed to sell all 340 tickets without advertising anywhere. We were so fortunate to have the help of Jenna Laidlaw, event planner to help things run smoothly on the night and to help us source excellent auction prizes. We are delighted Jenna is helping us again and Tommy Jardine auctioneer has also agreed to help us again.

Last time we managed to raise the fantastic sum of £12 000 which was way more than we ever expected. With this money we have managed to continue to provide Cresswell with memory boxes, a new camera and printer, baby clothes, a Moses basket and are hoping to finish refurbishing a room for parents to spend precious time with their baby away from the main delivery area, and invite family and friends to spend time with them. We couldn’t have managed all of this without the vital funds raised at our ball. We hope to be able to sell as many tickets this time and would love for you to buy a table and enjoy a lovely fun evening and help us to help bereaved parents in D&G.

mcdonaldAn amazing £6,000 raised by Debbie and Gordon Macdonald

After two hugely successful fundraising days held in January in memory of their little girl Freya, Gordon and Debbie Macdonald raised the amazing sum of £6,000 for Dumfries and Galloway Sands.

Debbie writes:-

“The teddy bears picnic attendance was overwhelming – never under estimate the power of Facebook! It was great to see so many kids and their teddy bears and who had raised lots and lots of pennies! All kids completely the walk and some in record time! Everyone had a great time, the weather stayed dry and we all enjoyed our snacks in the play park afterwards!

The games day again was a great success, there was so much hard work that went into the day before hand and the guys did a great job of pulling in lots of money to get waxed. The trophies were won by:

  • Pool – winner Paul Hamilton, Runner Up Tam Munro Jnr
  • Dominoes – winner Tam munro Jnr, Runner Up Dez Gemmell
  • Darts – Winner JC Broadfoot, Runner Ross Hutchinson

Thanks to Bill Imrie for the use of the Normandy and to all my little helpers who made the day possible.”

Dumfries and Galloway Sands would like to say a huge thank you to Debbie and Gordon and everyone else involved in the days.
Next Support Meeting

The next support group meeting is planned for

  • 7th November: 7.30pm

and we welcome anyone touched by the death of a baby to join us.

The meeting will be held at our office at 107 Irish Street Dumfries.

Many people feel that only others who have experienced the death of a baby can offer real understanding of the pain and heartbreak that they are feeling and the support group meetings allow you to connect with other bereaved parents, grandparents and others who share your pain and loss.

The support group is an informal setting and is only attended by people who themselves have lost a baby or their families. You will not be pressured to speak and sometimes it’s nice just to simply come along and listen.

If anyone would like more information about these meetings or would like to express an interest in attending then please email [email protected]
