Dumfries and Galloway Sands Christmas Service

Our Christmas Service will be on Thursday 18th December in the beautiful Crichton Royal Church, Dumfries.

Sands CandlesOnce again, there will be two services. The first will be a family service starting at 6.15pm – 6.45pm. Families with young children are invited to come along to this child friendly service to gently remember their baby.  We will hear carols from the children of Troqueer school choir and be invited to light a candle before writing a message or colouring in a decoration to hang on the beautiful Christmas tree. Children attending this service will receive a special gift on leaving.

A second service will take place at 7.30pm. This time we will hear songs from Dumfries Male voice choir. We will also hear some touching poems and readings and of course be invited to light a candle before hanging our messages on the tree.

Christmas is a special time of year but can be a particularly difficult for those who have suffered the loss of a baby.  Please come along to either of our services and join with others who know exactly how you feel.

Please join us for tea/coffee and shortbread after the service.

Next Support Meeting

The next support group meeting is planned for

  • 7th November: 7.30pm

and we welcome anyone touched by the death of a baby to join us.

The meeting will be held at our office at 107 Irish Street Dumfries.

Many people feel that only others who have experienced the death of a baby can offer real understanding of the pain and heartbreak that they are feeling and the support group meetings allow you to connect with other bereaved parents, grandparents and others who share your pain and loss.

The support group is an informal setting and is only attended by people who themselves have lost a baby or their families. You will not be pressured to speak and sometimes it’s nice just to simply come along and listen.

If anyone would like more information about these meetings or would like to express an interest in attending then please email [email protected]
